Yellowstone was formed in 2003 when Medical Professional Liability insurance was difficult to obtain and keep. Thirteen charter member hospitals came together and formed an insurance option to help stabilize premiums, mitigate risk and ensure direct access to the insurance marketplace regardless of the commercial market's medical professional liability conditions of future cycles.
